From the Editor

Mike Leone, Lionman, November ’98, Margaret Austin. I stand in the East, the place of
new beginnings. Indeed this issue of the DRUM is in many ways a new beginning for me.

I’m back as DRUM Editor. After stepping down from the Editor spot I discovered that I
had a lot of sadness around leaving it, sadness that sometimes expressed itself as anger
toward myself or others in other situations, until I dealt with these feelings in I-Group a
while back. After addressing the issues, I considered the DRUM an almost-closed chapter
in my life, while two very talented men in turn proceeded to occupy the position. Then
the editorship came open once again. At that point I believed I was ready to step back in,
and offered to do so. I left the various fears that arose for me around that offer in the
hands of the universe. I’m joyful that the universe was aligned in such a way that I was
able to come back, and I’m also joyful that I was able to learn some lessons that I judge I
was intended to learn from the entire experience.

In truth, I have never completely lost touch with the DRUM. For as long as the old website
was up, I was still listed as contact man for the publication. So I was pleased to have the
occasional opportunity to interact with others by phone and e-mail about articles,
advertising and the like.

These last couple of years have been full of adventure and creativity for me. Some of
what I have walked through, especially beginning to explore my artistic side, has been
very good; other things have been less so. I hope to have a chance to share the very good
stuff in a possible article one day; indeed, some time ago I started writing an article that
to this day remains unfinished. Of course, I have shared all the significant events in my
life, good, bad and indifferent, with Warrior brothers and I-Groups.

And speaking of significant events, we now have, as you doubtless know, a new website.
It provides a couple of other ways of reading the DRUM. It contains a link to a .pdf copy
of the very same issue that you are holding in your hand, and it also contains separate
versions of the individual articles. I’m hoping to be able to use the latter as a means of
expanding the page-limit-imposed-boundaries of the printed version.

Speaking of articles, “plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.” As I have pleaded so
many times in the past, I’m once again looking for articles. So if you haven’t submitted
an article lately, or even if you have, please consider sending in another one. Likewise, if
you have announcements about such things as, for example, upcoming Warrior events,
workshops you are putting on, other wants or needs you may have, please send those to
me for the announcement section. You can e-mail them to me at
lionman499@yahoo.com or send them to me by regular mail at P.O. Box 27544,
Houston, TX 77227-7544. Word, WordPerfect, inline e-mail text, typed or handwritten
versions are all welcome.

Once again, I’m happy to be back with the DRUM. I look forward to resuming my brief
chats with you in each issue, to continuing to reconnect with the Warrior community, and
to seeing you around the campus.
