I am happy that you are holding in your hands the second issue of the DRUM since I have stepped back in as editor. It is still my intention to have the issues come out the same month as the season changes, i.e., March, June, September and December. And while you are receiving this issue in December, this is actually the issue I would have wanted you to see in December. If things go according to plan, the winter 2007-08 issue should be out sometime in January or early February and, after that, I hope to keep to the schedule I have planned.
I am very pleased with the batch of articles we have assembled for this issue of the DRUM. I have always liked to see the DRUM be primarily a place for the heart pieces and the creativity of the men of our community. So with that in mind, there are a couple of things that I want.
First, I want to hear from you. Please send me your articles and pieces. You can send them directly to me at lionman499@yahoo.com as either a Word or WordPerfect document or as inline text or, if you are computer-challenged, you can mail your articles to me at P.O. Box 7544, Houston, TX 77227-7544. Because of the way the publication is currently set up, with articles being available both in the hard copy of the publication and on the website, there is always room for everything that is submitted.
I can also use PHOTOS. If you attend a Warrior event and have a digital camera, please take some photos and send them to me. Same e-mail address. I normally make the effort to recruit photographers to cover the graduations, and I can always use the help of others to send in photos of other Warrior events they might attend.
Finally, our advertisers are the lifeblood of the DRUM. It is the advertisers who keep the publication afloat. So if you own a business, please consider advertising in the DRUM. The ad rates can be found on the back page of this issue, and if you will get in touch with me, I can send you a copy of the ad specs.
I’m going to be brief this month because I want to leave room to get as much as possible of Doug Koss’ wonderful keynote speech at the World Elder Gathering IV, held at Land of My Grandfathers the last weekend of October, into the hard copy of this issue.
Have a wonderful holiday season and I hope to be talking to you again soon.
